The Wide World magazine was a British publication for men, founded by publisher George Newnes which ran for a staggering 67 years, from April 1898 until December 1965.With gripping, eye-catching, pulp-styled  paintings on its cover, the magazine described itself as “an illustrated magazine of true narrative”.With this concept in mind, each month the magazine reported on “true-life” adventure and travel stories gathered from around the globe, the magazine’s motto being “Truth is stranger than fiction”.
