This stunning edition of Walt Didney’s ‘Cinderella’ was illustrated by the  very talented Retta Scott Worcester, who had worked for Disney in the 1930s and 40’s and who became the best friend of  fellow artist/legend Mary Blair. Retta began work at Disney  in 1938, when she was hired by the studio’s story departmen to contribute her talents  to ‘Bambi’, then being developed. Her animation of hunting dogs chasing Faline in ‘Bambi’ was just the start of an auspicious career in animation/illustration.She went on to contribute to such iconic Disney pictures as Fantasia, Dumbo and the studio’s version of ‘The Wind In The Willows’, which was shelved due to World War 11 and eventually released as part of the film ‘The Adventures Of Ichabod and Mr. Toad’.When Retta Scott left Disney in 1946, she re-located to the East Coast where she remained a freelance artist, illustrating many Disney publications, in particular for their Big Golden Book editions, of which this marvellous example of ‘Cinderella’ is just one!
