VERSACE MENSWEAR CAMPAIGN FALL/WINTER 2014/15

Written by  on August 25, 2014

Models-on-the-rise Daan van der Deen and Filip Hrivnak bring energy, style and a sexy charisma to the bold and dashing  Versace Menswear campaign for Fall/Winter 2014/15, lensed by  dynamic fashion photography duo Mert & Marcus, with styling by  David Bradshaw, hair by Garren, makeup by Lucia Pieron and art direction by Giovanni Bianco. The collection’s theme of  the ‘Wild West’ ( leather chaps worn over  Versace signature-patterned underwear) meets futuristic-biker (studded leather biker-jackets accessorised with ornate quilted crash-helmets)  fuels an always overtly-stylised sartorial Versace-dream with particular verve and distinction on this occasion.

LAUREN BACALL – 1924-2014 R.I.P. TO HAVE & TO HAVE NOT

Written by  on August 19, 2014

L1

A stunning photographic tribute to the amazing actress/model Lauren Bacall (September 16, 1924-August 12, 2014) whose unforgettable debut as “Slim” in the 1944 movie ‘To Have & Have Not’ alongside future husband Humphrey Bogart made her an icon of Film Noire overnight. It was  in this movie that she created her own personal screen-trademark/signature which became known as  “The Look”, an effect where she pressed her chin against her chest and facing the camera, tilted her eyes upward (ironically this was a move originally designed to steady her nerves and to minimise her quivering on-camera).As “Slim” Lauren delivers (in the huskiest of tones) one of the cinema’s most memorable lines to Bogart’s character “Steve”: SLIM: “You know you don’t have to act with me, Steve. You don’t have to say anything, and you don’t have to do anything. Not a thing. Oh, maybe just whistle. You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and… blow.” Ms. Bacall will be much-missed, but her star will continue to burn brightly in the firmament of Hollywood movie stars…

The new Etro Fall/Winter campaign for 2014/15 Look Book not only celebrates the label’s flamboyant sartorial style, but more pertinently the unique skills and workmanship of its tailors/designers in the model room who make these visions of sartorial excellence come to life.Models Alfred Kovac, Tom Heukels and Anthony Thornburg bring their presence and charisma to the proceedings.
